HOW IT HAPPENED
• Saint Joseph's (5-8) went ahead right away as
Carson Applegate and
Tim Dickinson singled and
Owen Petrich walked to load the bases in the bottom of the first; two batters later,
Joey Pagano singled home a pair to give the Hawks the lead.
Â
• Dickinson was hit by a pitch to lead off the third before stealing second; he then scored on a double by Petrich to extend the lead. Petrich would come in on a single by
Blake Primrose to make it a 4-0 game.
Â
• Duda was hit by a pitch and Pagano walked to start the fifth; two batters later, Primrose singled home Duda before
Joey Gale singled to load the bases. Applegate then walked to force home a run before Dickinson was hit by a pitch again to force in another and extend the lead to 7-0.
Â
• Seton Hall (4-9) got on the board in the seventh through a solo home run from Aiden Robbins, a wild pitch, and an RBI groundout by Frankie Scrivanic.
Â
• The Hawks got the runs back in the eighth as a walk to Duda and singles by Pagano and Primrose loaded the bases with one out. Gale followed with an RBI single before a walk to
Alex Kelsey forced home another run; Applegate then hit a sacrifice fly to restore the seven-run lead at 10-3.
Â
• The Pirates scored a pair of unearned runs in the ninth on a double by Scrivanic, but that would be all as the Hawks secured the victory.
