Women’s Cross Country With Strong Showing at Paul Short Run

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Saint Joseph's women's cross country team took part in the Paul Short Run on Saturday afternoon, finishing 12th out of 43 teams off the back of seven personal bests.
 
ABOUT THE EVENT
  • The women competed on an 6K course in the Brown race, the second-highest field in the event.
  • St. Joe's finished 12th out of 43 teams.
  • 349 runners spanned across the brown race, 299 runners competing in the open race. Six Hawks competed in the open event.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED (WOMEN'S COLLEGE BROWN 6K)
  • Leading the way for the Hawks was a 19th place finish from Ava Curry, setting a mark of 22:19.8.
  • Becca Millar followed just behind in 20th, her time of 22:22.7 setting a new best time by two seconds.
  • Maura Keane continued the trend of bumping persona records, a 15 second bettering of her previous mark with a 23:13.2 finish. Carlyn Segrave-Daly also added a PR with her finish of 23:44.5.
  • Katie Sparks rounded out the scoring with a 23:53.2 finish.
  • Grace Fennell continues her early start to her career by besting the benchmark she set last time in Legigh, beating the earlier season mark by 18 seconds to a 23:59.9 finish.
  • Alyssa Brinsky finished narrowly behind with a 24:00.6 mark.
  • Madison Buddenbohn, Taylor Rochon and Payton Kochanski rounded out the event for the Hawks.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED (OPEN WOMEN'S 6K)
  • Lauren Charboneau led the Hawks in the open field with a 50 second personal best time of 23:33.0 to place 59th. Carolyn Smith's finish of 23:41.7 also proved a PR by nearly 24 seconds.
  • Grace Rudder bested her efforts set here nearly a month earlier after finishing with a time of 23:46.8.
  • Quinn O'Brien followed her freshman teammate with a 24:09.6 finish, while Anna Albergo marginally missed out on a new personal best with a time of 24:17.2.
  • Samantha Korck ended her morning with a 25:29.4 finish.

  • The Hawks return to action on Friday, October 13 in the ECAC Championships at Van Cortlandt Park.
