NEW YORK - The men's track and field team competed in the Lafayette/Rider Winter Games Invitational at the Armory Track and Field Center on Friday afternoon. The meet served as one final opportunity to compete before the Hawks travel to Kingston, R.I. for the Atlantic 10 Championships next weekend.
Junior James Rodgers led all Hawks with his first first-place performance of the season, clocking in with a personal-record 22.44 in the 200m dash.
Junior Michael Yap placed ninth in the 60m dash in 22.95 while classmate Tyler Dougherty took sixth in the 200m dash, clocking in at 22.95.
In the 500m run, junior Peter Larmann checked in with a personal-record 1:05.61 en route to a sixth-place finish while sophomore James Gentile placed ninth in the 800m run in 1:56.79.
Freshman Ryan Vance ran his first collegiate 1000m run in 2:34.75, good for a fifth-place finish.
Yap also placed in the long jump with a mark of 6.10m to take ninth. Senior Vinh Nghi To checked in with fifth- and 10th-place finishes in the long (5.95m) and triple (12.63m) jumps, respectively.
The Hawks return to action at the Atlantic 10 Conference Championships next weekend, February 16-17.
