Bordogna and Florida Earn All-Area Academic Honors

PHILADELPHIA--Seniors Krista Bordogna (Marmora, N.J./Ocean City) and Andrea Florida (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) were tabbed to their respective All-Area Academic teams on Monday. Bordogna was a standout for the Hawks' field hockey squad while Florida was named to her second All-Area team for cross country. Bordogna, a forward, smashed her career highs in 2008 with seven goals, two assists, and 16 points. She recorded Saint Joseph's lone hat trick of the season, tallying three goals in a 4-0 victory over Saint Francis (Pa.) on October 4. She was also awarded Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference honors and is a three-time NFHCA National Academic Squad honoree. Florida, a 2006 honoree on the Philadelphia All-Area squad, led the Hawks in three of the six races run. Her best finishes in 2008 were a second and a third at Haverford and Bojangles Invitational, respectively. Previously, Florida earned All-Conference Academic team honors for cross country and indoor track during the 2007-08 campaigns. Bordogna sports a 3.98 cumulative grade point average as a marketing major while Florida has a 3.82 GPA in food marketing. Bordogna was tops amongst all Hawk field hockey players in GPA while Florida was second on the cross country squad.
