Freshman cross country standout Aimee Chegwidden received Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for her accomplishments at the Leopard Invitational Saturday.

Chegwidden, a Hamburg, NJ native, covered the six-kilometer course in a time of 21:48. Her 17th place finish was second best on the Hawk squad as Saint Joseph's finished sixth in the 11 team field.

The honor is the first bestowed upon Chegwidden and the first conference recognition of any kind for the 2007 women's cross country team.

Chegwidden will try to continue her impressive season in two weeks, as the Hawks host the Atlantic 10 Championships at Belmont Plateau on October 27. The men's Race is scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m., while the women's race is at 10:45 a.m.
