HAWKS COMPETE AT PENN STATE INVITATIONAL IN FINAL TUNE-UP FOR A10S
STATE COLLEGE, PA (10/18/03) -- Junior Colleen Flanagan led the Hawk contingent in its final tuneup before the Atlantic 10 Championships on Saturday at the Penn State National Invitational. Flanagan competed the course in a time of 21:58.19, good for 38th place. SJU finished 13th out of 19 teams.
Senior captain Amy Manwaring finished second for St. Joe's (22:11.11, 48th), followed by classmate Karen Weber (23:19.09, 100th). Freshmen Suzie McHenry (23:27.59, 110th) and Meryl Nash (23:37.24, 118th) rounded out the Hawk top five. Junior Erin O'Donnell (23:41.24, 123rd) and freshman Renee Spangler (23:50.77, 130th) finished sixth and seventh for SJU. Providence's Kim Smith won the event in a time of 20:14.59. The Friars also captured team honors with 49 points, defeating Columbia (58), Penn State (84), Colorado State (89), and Tennessee (111).
