COLLEGEVILLE, PA (08/30/03) -- The Hawk women's cross country team placed an impressive 13 runners in the top 16 and captured the season opening Ursinus Invitational on Saturday in Collegeville, Pa. Senior captain Amy Manwaring led all SJU harriers by completing the 3k course in 12:12.
Junior Colleen Flanagan placed third overall with a time of 12:23. After a fourth place finish by Lebanon Valley's Heather Rishel, Saint Joseph's finished in the next nine spots, led by junior Erin O'Donnell (12:38, 5th).
Following O'Donnell were freshman Renee Spangler (12:38.7, 6th), freshman Suzy McHenry (12:39, 7th), junior Meghan Gallagher (12:41, 8th), and junior Mary Crossin (12:42, 9th).
The Hawks won the event with 23 points, followed by Lebanon Valley (81), Ursinus (128), Franklin and Marshall (142), and Swarthmore (185). Ursinus' NCAA Division III qualifier Katie Dougherty won the event with a time of 12:00.5.
