HAWKS END SEASON WITH 7TH PLACE FINISH AT ECAC CHAMPIONSHIPS

BRONX, NY (11/17/01) - Senior Denise Fergus turned in a strong final run of her career, placing 11th overall to lead the Saint Joseph's women's cross country team to a seventh place finish in the 14-team field at the ECAC Championships. Fergus completed the 5000-meter course at Van Cortland Park in a time of 18:25.70. Sophomore Amy Manwaring placed second for SJU, and 32nd overall in a time of 18:55.50. She was followed by freshman Colleen Flanagan (42nd overall, 19:02.60), senior Katie Limbach (61st, 19:30.50) and sophomore Karen Weber (68th, 19:44.20). James Madison, led by individual champion Cynthia Dunham (17:50.70), won the team title, finishing with 51 points. Georgetown placed second with 74 points. The Hoyas were followed Duke (113), Bucknell (113), Princeton (150), Cornell (157), SJU (196), Colgate (229), St. Francis, N.Y. (230), Delaware (241), Marist (249), Yale (282), Villanova (308) and George Mason (408).
