Saint Joseph's Cross Country Squads Announce 2008 Schedules

Men's Schedule Women's Schedule PHILADELPHIA, Pa - The schedules for the Saint Joseph's men's and women's cross country squads were announced today by coaches Kevin Quinn and Mike Glavin. Altogether, the two teams will travel to five states including two trips to Charlotte, N.C, Princeton, N.J. and New York City. Both teams kick off the season two weeks after summer practices commence when they travel down Lancaster Avenue to compete in the Haverford Time Trials August 29. The following week is the first full meet for the squads as the Hawks take part in the Ram Invitational hosted by Fordham at Van Courtlandt Park in New York on September 6. The next event takes place in North Carolina on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, site of the Bojangles Invitational on September 13. It will be the first trip for the Saint Joseph's cross country teams to UNC-Charlotte, also the site of the 2008 Atlantic 10 Championships on November 1. The women's team takes a week off while the men take another trip up to Van Courtlandt Park for the Paddy O'Doyle Invitational on September 20. The Saturday after that, the men take a week off while the women take a trip to Dunbar Farms in Williamsburg, Virginia for the Colonial Inter-Regional Challenge hosted by the College of William & Mary on September 27. The two teams will travel together to the prestigious Paul Short Invitational on October 3. The event, hosted by Lehigh University at its sports complex, is one of the most renowned collegiate meets held in the Eastern United States. After a two-week break, the Hawks will make the short jaunt to Princeton, N.J. for the Princeton Invitational at West Windsor Fields on October 18. West Windsor Fields will also serve as the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals site on November 15.
The A-10 Championships (Nov. 1) and NCAA Regionals (Nov. 15) are two finals meets leading into the respective ECAC and IC4A Championships for women and men on November 22 at Van Courtlandt Park. Last season Saint Joseph's had fifth (men) and eighth (women) place finishes at the 2007 A-10 Championships, hosted by SJU at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia.
