SJU Places Sixth at A-10 Cross Country Championship

PITTSBURGH - Senior Colleen Flanagan and sophomore Suzie McHenry narrowly missed All-Conference honors, placing 11th and 13th overall, to lead the Saint Joseph's women's cross country team to a sixth place finish at the 2004 Atlantic 10 Cross Country Championships held at Schenley Park.

An All-A-10 pick in 2003, Flanagan finished 11th overall in a tiem of 18:31. She missed reapeating as an All-A-10 choice by just three seconds. McHenry was hot on her trail and placed 13th in a time of 18:36.

Also scoring for SJU were senior Jackie Twomey, who placed 42nd in a time of 19:39, junior Marcy DeLorenz, who finished 48th in a time of 19:50, and senior Erin O'Donnell, who was 54th in a time of 20:00. Senior Mary Crossin (20:14) and freshman Christine Egan ((20:27) rounded out the top seven.

Sophomore Erin Kelly (20:31), freshman Kate LoSecco (20:48) and sophomore Maddie Bell (21:01) filled out the line-up.

La Salle sophomore Rachel Papin posted a time of 17:48 to win the women's individual title. She recorded the eighth-fastest time in the 16-year history of the event. The Explorers finished with 35 points, followed by 2003 champion Richmond with 61, Rhode Island (89), Duquesne (125), Massachusetts (161), Saint Joseph's (168), Xavier (172), George Washington (186), Dayton (212), Fordham (250) and St. Bonaventure (351).
