Depleted Women's Cross Country Squad Competes at Paul Short Invite

Varsity Race Results Bethlehem, Pa.--The Saint Joseph's women's cross country team ran without its top two runners in addition to another holdouts en route to a 40th place finish at the Paul Short Invitational. A group of four harriers finished together in 23:19 over six kilometers to lead the Hawks. Sophomores Christina Morelli (203rd) led a pack of four Hawks in 23:19, while sophomore Jessica Di Cicco, freshman Kelsey Rose and sophomore Aimee Chegwidden took 206th, 208th, and 209th, respectively, all finishing with identical times of 23:20. Freshman Katie Barrett (24:18) and sophomore Laura Faller (24:18) also finished with identical times in 263rd and 264th, respectively. Newcomer Samantha Peters rounded out the varsity seven with a 282nd place showing in a time of 25:15. SJU had two freshmen compete in the JV race with Jackie Stuppiello running a time of 24:19, good for 145th, while Carolyn Haggerty (25:29) ran to 240th place. The Hawks were without the services of three-time All-Atlantic 10 performer and tri-captain Andrea Florida, fellow tri-captain Amy Rhein, and freshman standout Kathleen Casey due to illness.
