Women's Cross Country Sees Mixed Results at William & Mary

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Saint Joseph’s women’s cross country team finished fifth of nine teams on Saturday at the Colonial Inter-Regional Challenge hosted by William and Mary. Freshmen Kelsey Rose led the Hawks with a 24th-place finish. Rose and senior tri-captain Andrea Florida finished 24th and 25th respectively, in times of 23:34.3 and 23:37.3 as SJU’s top two runners. Sophomore Aimee Chegwidden had a strong race in the 30th position finishing the six-kilometer course in 23:57.6. Sophomore Christina Morelli completed the race in a time of 24:12.7 good for 35th overall. Morelli’s older sister, Lynn, finished seventh overall for William and Mary. Rounding out the top five was freshmen Kathleen Casey in 38th with a time of 24:19.6. Sophomore Jessica Di Cicco (43rd) and senior tri-captain Amy Rhein (51st) crossed the line in times of 24:45.3 and 25:13.7, respectively, to complete the varsity seven squad. In all, 15 Hawk Harriers competed in today’s meet. They will toe the line again on Friday at the Paul Short Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa. Individual Results 24. Kelsey Rose 23:34.3 25.
