Harriers Open Respective Seasons at Haverford Time Trials

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Saint Joseph's cross country opened the season Friday evening at the Haverford Time Trials with an impressive performance turned in by Andrea Florida. Vince Collins led the men's contingent in the non-scoring meet. Florida paced the Hawks running a time of 18:36.10 over the three-mile course. Five other harriers joined Florida in the top 10 as freshman Kathleen Casey (19:33.81), junior Annie Cushing (19:34.10), and sophomores Christina Morelli (19:34.39), Jessica Di Cicco (19:34.69), and Aimee Chegwidden (19:35.00) ran fifth through ninth place, respectively. Freshman David Evans (16:19.56) and sophomore Kevin Donnelly (16:19.56) finished the three-mile race eighth and ninth, following Collins who ran 16:05.17 for SJU. Sophomore Jesse Brooks (11th) and freshman Logan Hohs (13th) rounded out the top five for the Hawks, completing the course in 16:35.55 and 16:36.60, respectively. The annual meet at Haverford opened the 2008 campaign for both Saint Joseph's squads. Both teams will be in action next week, toeing the line at the Ram Invitational hosted by Fordham at Van Courtlandt Park in the Bronx.
