Hawks Turn in Top Effort at Lafayette
Dec. 4, 2004 Easton, PA - Saint Joseph's Women's Track Team opened their season at the 2004 Lafayette College Indoor Track and Field Meet. The Hawks boasted six first place finishes and a number of other top placings. Junior Andria Smythe took gold in the long jump (5.53m) and the 60 yard dash (7.22); she also finished second in the triple jump and 220 yard dash. Freshman Jordan Tueuber was not far behind Smythe in each event, finishing 4th in the Long Jump, 11th in the triple jump, 6th in the 60 yard dash and 5th in the 220 yard dash. Rounding out the sprints, sophomore Stacey Cronin finished first in the 440 yard dash in a time of 102.10 The Hawks also dominated the middle distance and distance events, taking first and second in the 500m, first in the 880y and second in the mile. Senior Kelly Victory took gold in the 500m (1:20.66) with teammate Amanda Guthridge finishing right behind her (1:21.17). Junior Thuy Nguyen placed first in the 880y with a time of 2:21.67. Senior Erin o'Donnell finished second in the mile in a time of 5:34.58. The Hawks' 4x440y relay team also took gold in a time of 4:05.00. The Women's Track Team have a competitive schedule this season and look foward to building on their successes from this meet. They will be traveling to the Bronx after the New Year for the Fordham Invitational on January 7, 2005.
