4x100 CONTINUES RECORD SETTING WAYS AT LAFAYETTE

EASTON, PA (4/17/04) - The Saint Joseph's women's track team's 4x100 relay team continued its record setting run by setting a new school mark in the event for the third consecutive week at the Lafayette Invitational. Thuy Nguyen also posted a victory in the 800m and Andria Smythe won the long jump to highlight a successful weekend for SJU.

Besting the marks it set at the Duke and Lou Onesty Invitationals the previous two weeks, the 4x100 shattered the school record by 0.64 seconds. The team of Andria Smythe, Julie Lentz, Amanda Guthridge and Colleen Ladden placed second overall in a time of 47.36.

Individually, Nguyen captured the 800m in a time of 2:15.52, while Smythe lept 19-3 1/2 to win the long jump.

Colleen Flanagan (18:12.00) finished third in the 5000m. Amy Manwaring (10:18.50) was fourth in the 3000m, while Sarah Click and Erin Blaustein were fourth in the high jump and long jump. Lynn Puzzo placed sixth in the javelin and Amanda Guthridge (58.49) was sixth in the 400m.
