4x100 MARK FALLS AS SJU WOMEN PLACE NINTH AT LOU ONESTY

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (4/10/04) - For the second straight week, the 4x100 relay team sprinted to a school record in leading the Saint Joseph's women's track team to a ninth place finish at the Lou Onesty/Milton G. Abramson Invitational held at Lannigan Field at the University of Virginia.

Besting the mark it set at the Duke Invitational one week earlier by 0.14 seconds, the team of Andria Smythe, Julie Lentz, Amanda Guthridge and Colleen Ladden placed fourth overall in a time of 48.00.

In addtion to their relay work, Lentz and also delivered strong results in individual competition. Smythe placed fifth in both the long jump and 100m, improving with a season-best leap of 18-05.00 and placed a time of 12.29, respectively. Lentz, meanwhile ran 58.51 in the 400m.

Joining Lentz at 400m were Ladden (58.77) and Guthridge (59.12) who each improved on their top season times at the distance.

At 800m Kelly Victory placed fifth in a time of 2:14.14 and Thuy Nguyen finished seventh (2:14.47). Rebecca Powell (2:16.93) and Mary Crossin (2:18.35) also placed in the top 15.

Freshman Suzie McHenry placed ninth in the 3,000m (10:23.97). Sarah Click was fifth in the high jump with a leap of 5-03.75.

The 4x400 relay placed sixth (3:55.86).
