WOMEN'S RELAYS TURN IN TOP EFFORTS AT DUKE INVITATIONAL

DURHAM, NC (4/03/04) - A pair of ECAC qualifying performances, including a school record in the 4x100, by the Hawk relay teams highlighted a successful weekend of racing at the prestigious Duke Invitational at Wallace Wade Stadium.

The 4x100 team of Andria Smythe, Julie Lentz, Amanda Guthridge and Colleen Ladden blazed to a new SJU record with a time of 48.14. The ECAC qualifying effort helped SJU place sixth in an extrmely competitive field and shave .03 second off the old standard.

The 4x800 of Kelly Victory, Erin Kelly, Marry Crossin and Rebecca Powell also met ECAC standards and placed third overall with a time of 9:17.22.

The 4x400, which featured Guthridge, Lentz and Ladden, along with Stacey Cronin, ran the fastest time in the Atlantic 10 this season and placed tenth overall in a time of 3:54.58.

Individually, Powell and Victory turned in top efforts in the 800m. Powell finished second overall in a high-level filed with a time of 2:17.52, while Victory (2:18.65) won her qualifying heat and finished eighth overall.
