NGUYEN SETS TWO HAWK RECORD TO PACE SJU WOMEN AT LAST CHANCE MEET

NEW YORK, NY (2/27/04) - Sophomore Thuy Nguyen set a pair of school records and posted ECAC qualifying standards in two events as the Saint Joseph's women's track and field team turned in a solid effort at the NYU Last Chance meet. Nguyen set a school record in the 500m and qualified for ECACs with a time of 1:15.49. She also anchored the 4x400 relay team that also featured Amanda Guthridge, Julie Lentz, and Kelly Victory, and established a new school mark with an ECAC qualifying time of 3:51.17. In addition to Nguyen, classmate Andria Smythe also posted ECAC qualifying times in two events. She sprinted the 60m in 7.59 and alsol lept 19-4 in the long jump, a new indoor personal best. Other notable results were turned in by Erin Blaustein, who jumped a personal best 17-5 1/4 in the long jump and Guthridge and Victory, who also turned in new individual bests, running 1:17.09 and 1:17.24 , respectively to win their heats in the 500.
