HAWK WOMEN FACE TOUGH FIELD AT PSU INVITATIONAL
UNIVERSITY PARK, PA (1/17/03) - Andria Smythe's third place finish in the 60m dash (7.58) ranked as the highest individual finish for the Saint Joseph's women's track team at the Penn State Invitational on Saturday. As a team, SJU finished 14th in the 15 team field, ahead of A-10 rival La Salle.
In addition to Smythe the Hawks' best finish was delivered by the 4x800 relay team of Mary Crossin, Rebecca Powell, Thuy Nguyen, and Kelly Victory that placed fourth in a time of 9:27.29.
The Penn State (181.50) outscored second place Cornell (97.50) by 84 points to win the the event. Villanova took third (80), Georgetown was fourth (79.50) and Maryland finished fifth (72) to round out the top five team placings.
