SMYTHE LEADS SJU AS INDOOR SEASON OPENS AT LAFAYETTE
EASTON, PA (12/06/03) - Sophomore Andria Smythe claimed four gold medals as SJU opened the indoor track season with a strong showing at the Lafayette Track and Field Invitational. The Hawks claimed seven golds in all racing against a field that included the host Leopards, Rider and Moravian.
Smythe dominated the sprints winning the 60 yard dash in a time of 7.19 seconds and the 220 yard dash in 26.36. She also swept the jumps winning the long jump and the triple jump with leaps of 5.34m and a 11.23m, respectively.
Three other Hawks also picked up gold medals, including Maddie Bell in the two mile run (12:22.24), Thuy Nguyen in the 880 yard run (2:20.01) and Sarah Click in the high jump (1.58m).
SJU also had a strong effort in the one mile run with Mary Crossin, Gen Story and Gina Giordano placing second, third and fourth.
