HAWK WOMEN IN FIFTH AFTER FIRST DAY AT A-10S

RICHMOND, VA (05/03/03) -- Junior Amy Manwaring met ECAC standards and was just 0.17 away from breaking a school record in the 10,000 meters as the Hawks stood in fifth place after the first day of competition at the Atlantic 10 Championships at Richmond. Manwaring, who ran a time of 37:35.67, placed fifth in the event. Her time would have set an A-10 record, however, four runners crossed the line before her. Junior Sarah Click cleared 5'3" in the high jump to place third. Freshman Andria Smythe earned two fifth place finishes, in the 100m (12.21) and the long jump (18'00 1/4"). Sophomore Erin O'Donnell placed eighth in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 11:55.29. Rhode Island leads the event, followed by host Richmond, Duquesne and Massachusetts. Competition continues tomorrow in Richmond.
