SMYTHE IS FIRST ECAC SCORER SINCE 2000

BOSTON, MA (03/09/03) - Freshman Andria Smythe became the first Hawk woman to score in the ECAC Championships since three SJU athletes did the trick in 2000. The St. Elizabeth, Jamaica native ran a season best time of 7.58 in the 60m to earn third place. She finished 11th in the long jump as well with a 18'7 1/4" leap. The 4x800 relay team of sophomores Kelly Victory and Mary Crossin, freshman Thuy Nguyen and senior Sarah Conway, finished eighth with a time of 9:14.40. Conway also placed 11th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:12.95. Saint Joseph's finished 33rd out of 48 teams at the ECAC Championships and second among Atlantic 10 competitors.
