HAWKS COMPETE AT DUKE INVITATIONAL

DURHAM, NC - The St. Joseph's women's track team traveled to Durham, NC, to take part in the Duke Invitational. The Hawks competed in a field which included squads from Pittsburgh, Virginia, Richmond, South Carolina, Northeastern, Georgetown, Boston, North Carolina as well as the host Blue Devils. Senior co-captain Bernadette Speer was SJU's top finisher, tying for fourth in the high jump (5'6 1/2). Senior Christine Kane ran strong, placing 13th among 35 runners in the 1500 meter run. A pair of rookies had solid outings as Sarah Click placed tied for 13th in the high jump (5'2 1.2) while Maisha Tyler finished 15th in the long jump (17'10 3/4). Tyler also anchored the 4x100 relay that set a new school record with a time of 49.15. Brooke Gilliford, Erin Blaustein, and Mary Korfmacher teamed with Tyler for a 15th place finish. Kane, Korfmacher, Katie Limbach, and Gabby Quezada teamed up to lead the distance medley relay team to a third place finish (11:46.99). The Hawks next compete on Saturday, April 14, when they travel to the University of Virginia.
