HAWKS PLACE SECOND AT LAFAYETTE

EASTON, PA- The St. Joseph's women's track team claimed second place at the Lafayette Invitational last Saturday. The Hawks defeated Monmouth, Rider, and Fairleigh Dickinson while Lafayette took first. Junior Brooke Gilliford was the workhorse for the Hawks placig first in both the 100 meter (12.52) and 200 meter (25.91) dashes. She also ran legs of the winning 4x400 relay and of the 4x100 relay that placed third. Christine Kane also placed first in two events, winning the 1500 meter (4:35.65) and 3000 meter (10:14.62) runs. Senior Gabby Quezada claimed gold in the 800 meters (2:13.06) while Bernadette Speer and Maisha Tyler took first in the high jump (5'6 1/2) and long jump (17'2), respectively. Tyler also placed second in the 100 meter dash (12.84) while freshman Sarah Click placed second in the high jump (5'4 1/2). Other individual highlights include third place finishes by Tyler in the 200 meter dash (26.68), Mary Korfmacher in the 400 (58.60), Erin Blaustein in the 400 hurdles (1:08.40) and Emily Horton in the triple jump (10.11 m)
