HAWKS COMPETE AT ARMORY INVITATION

NEW YORK, NY- The St. Joseph's women's track team traveled to New York this past weekend to take part in the first annual Armory Invitation. Behind the performance of senior Christine Kane, the Hawks placed tenth among 19 schools, including South Carolina, Ohio State, East Carolina, and Princeton. Kane posted the only Hawk victory of the day, winning the 3000 meter run with a time of 9:59.13, the fastest in the Atlantic 10 this season. Kane also teamed up with Sarah Conway, Katie Limbach, and Melissa Wilbeck in the 4x800 relay, placing fifth with a time of 9:22.29, also the fastest time in the Atlantic 10. Other highlights include a fourth place finish by Denise Fergus in the 3000 (10:25.96) and a sixth place finish by Conway in the 800 (2:16.80). Senior co-captain Bernadette Speer placed tied for sixth in the high jump with a leap of 5'4 1/2". The Hawks next compete on Saturday, January 20, when they travel to Cornell.
