Women's Track Gears Up For Atlantic 10 Championships

PHILADELPHIA, PA - Saint Joseph's women's track heads off to Charlotte, NC Thursday to compete in the Atlantic 10 Championships. The Hawks will be competing in 16 events and have a good chance of bringing home some top finishes.

Saturday, Lauren Slack will be competing in the Long Jump, High Jump, and 100 Hurdles all of which she is currently ranked 4th, 8th, and 7th in the A-10. Also competing in the high jump will be Natalie Miller who is tied for 2nd in the A-10 with a personal best of 5-5. Lynn Puzzo, currently 5th in the A-10 will be throwing the Javelin. She placed 6th at last year's A-10 Championships with 116-02, a mark she has already surpassed this season with 123-1. Christina Brenner and Alessandra De Marco will also be competing in the Javelin throw.

The team of Slack, Jordan Teuber, Valerie Ramirez, and Julie Lentz will take on top challengers Charlotte and Rhode Island in the 4x100. Last week, the team ran a 48.06, the fastest of the season, placing them third on the A-10 list. Although the team has yet to be announced for the 4x400, the combination of Lauren Fike, Teuber, Rebecca Powell, and Lentz hold the 7th place spot in A-10 with their performance at the Lou Onesty Invitational where they had a 3:59.59 time.

The Hawks will also be competing in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 400 hurdles, 800m, 4x800, 1,500m, 5,000m, and 10,000m. The day is sure to be jam-packed with top performances along with the potential of new records being set.
