Collegeville, Pa. - Sophomore Kayla Charles and senior Hannah Boyce made history this weekend as the pair from the women's track team became the first in school history to compete in an indoor pentathlon, hosted by Ursinus College on Wednesday afternoon. Charles's performance, an overall total of 3155 points, has been approved as a school record.

Highlighted by a win in the 60m hurdles with a new personal-best time of 9.02, Charles enjoyed additional personal records in the high jump (1.46m), shot put (7.19m), and 800m run (2:31.51). The sophomore finished the pentathlon in a tie for third place out of 16 finishers.

Boyce took second place in the high jump with a mark of 1.64m while also posting personal records in the 60m hurdles (11.60) and shot put (7.20m). Overall, Boyce finished sixth in her first indoor pentathlon.

Charles, Boyce, and the Hawks return to action Friday, January 25, at the Penn State National Invitational at State College, Pa.
