Women's Track Finishes Eighth at the Atlantic 10 Championships

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Saint Joseph’s women’s track team wrapped up competition at the Atlantic 10 Championships with an eighth-place finish. The highlight of the day came when Nicole McMullen tied the school record in the 200m Dash.

McMullen finished second in the 200m, the highest finish for any women’s track member on Sunday. McMullen tied the previous mark of 24.23 set last year by Jordan Teuber.

The 4x400m and 4x100m Relays both scored with fourth and fifth place showings. Caitlin McGrath, Kierstin Quinn, Kristin Andrews and McMullen ran an ECAC-qualifying time of 3:52.58. Emily Coldren, McGrath, Quinn and McMullen teamed up for the 4x100m, completing the circuit in an ECAC-qualifying time of 47.85.

SJU saw Kristen Pierce and Andrews take two of the top four spots in the 400m Hurdles. Andrews ran third in a time of 1:03.13 and Pierce just .06 behind for fourth place. Pierce won her heat in a school record 1:03.19, only to have her time be broken a few moments later by Andrews, who is now the new owner of the SJU record for the event.

The only other scorer for the Hawks was Nohjay Nimpson in the triple jump. Nimpson leapt 37-6 to finish eighth in the event.

SJU will compete one more time prior to the ECAC Championships, as the Hawks will take part in the Swarthmore Last Chance on May 11.
