Hawk Women See Records Fall at Onesty Invite

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - Senior Erin O'Donnell and sophomore Valerie Ramirez both broke Hawk outdoor records as the Saint Joseph's women's track team delivered a 12th place finish at Virginia's prestigious Lou Onesty-Abramson Invitational. O'Donnell placed third in the 3000M Steeplechase in a school record time of 11:36.03. That bested her own previous SJU mark set in 2003. Ramirez meanwhile ran 15.33 in the 100M Hurdles to also set a school mark. In addition to O'Donnell, other top finishes were tunred in by sophomores Suzie McHenry and Rebecca Powell. Powell finished fifth in the 800M run in a time of 2:15.87. Two other Hawks, seniors Mary Crossin (2:18.00) and Colleen Flanagan (2:22.58) each won their respective heats. McHenry placed fifth in the 3,000M run in a time of 10:11.64. SJU also got a seventh place finish from Andria Smythe in the 100M. She ran 12.32 in the event to post one of the A-10's top times this season. Freshman Jordan Teuber also impressed in the event winning her heat. Flanagan finished 8th in the 1500M. The Hawks also fared well in the relays. The quartet of Smythe, Teuber, Ramirez and Colleen Ladden won their heat and placed sixth overall with a time of 48.81. Sophomore Julie Lentz, senior Kelly Victory, Teuber and junior Thuy Nguyen teamed in the 4x400 event and placed seventh in a time of 4:00.18.
