Hawks Set New School Records at NYU Fastrack
Feb. 24, 2006
New York, NY - The Hawks continued with their record setting ways Friday and added three more ECAC qualifiers with their performances at the NYU Fastrack Invitational. Highlighting Saint Joseph's efforts was junior Julie Lentz who placed third in the Invitation 400m and anchored the 4x400 to an ECAC qualifying time of 3:51.97. Lentz's 57.11 in the open 400 created a new school record, beating her 57.68 of two weeks ago as well as being an ECAC qualifying time. Lentz lowered the record by more than one second this winter and is the first Hawk to qualify for the ECAC in the 400. Lentz (57.34) was joined by Lauren Wallace (58.33), Amanda Guthridge (58.33) and Thuy Nguyen (57.65) in the 4x400. The team placed second in their section and fifth overall. Nguyen placed third in the Invitation 800m earlier in the day with a time of 2:13.62, also an ECAC qualifying time. Junior Valerie Ramirez also had a record-setting day finishing fifth in the 60m Hurdles with a time of 9:08.60. The time marked Ramirez's second school record this season, the first occurring earlier in the year in the 55m Hurdle standard. Other stand out performances came from Suzanne McHenry and Natalie Miller. McHenry finished third in the 3,000m in a time of 9:56.57, an ECAC qualifier. Miller tied for third in the high jump clearing 5'3". The Hawks will compete in six events this weekend at the ECAC meet in Boston. Andria Smythe (60, long jump), Julie Lentz (400), Thuy Nguyen (800), Suzanne McHenry (5000) and the 4x400 (Wallace, Guthridge, Nguyen and Lentz with Jordan Teuber as alternate).
