Lentz Sets New SJU Record as the Hawks Earn Five Top-Four Finishes at the Rider-lafayette Invitational

New York, NY - Junior Julie Lentz set a new school record in the 400 amongst strong Hawk performances at the Rider-Lafayette meet Friday. Although there was no team scoring for the meet, the Hawks had five finishes in the top four of their event.

Lentz finished the 400 in 57.68, earning her a fourth place finish. The record was previously held by Mary Korfmacher with a time of 58.25 set in 2002. Lentz also anchored the 4x400 that placed second (3:53.99). Amanda Guthridge, Lauren Wallace and Thuy Nguyen rounded out the 4x400 team. Guthridge ran a 1:16.94 in the 500, setting a new personal best and placing fourth in the event.

Andria Smythe continued to be a strong competition as she took second place in both the 60m and the 200m with times of 7.76 and 25.30 respectively.

Junior Rebecca Powell grabbed second place in the 1,000 with a time of 3:02.60. Powell also anchored the 4x800 the placed fourth (9:41.53). Renee Spangler, Lauren Walsh and Erin Kelly completed the quartet.

Freshman Natalie Miller continues to stay on the right path placing third in the High Jump with 5'3".

Many promising performances were recorded as the Hawks fine tune for the Atlantic 10 Championships set for this Saturday February 18th.
