Hawk Women Win Three Events, Finish Second at Ursinus

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa.--Buoyed by two individual wins and a relay victory, a small-sided Saint Joseph's women's track team finished second of 14 teams at the Ursinus Invitational Friday night. Led by senior captain Jordan Teuber won the 55m dash in a season-best time of 7.38, besting the competition by .22 of a second. Teuber was atop the preliminary standings running a 7.50 to qualify for the finals The Hawks also saw strong performances in the long jump competition with Erin Vanderhoof and Beth Getty earning the top spots. Vanderhoof's leap came in at 16' 11¼'' (5.16m) while Getty's 16' 10'' (5.13m) jump was good enough for second place. The trio of victories was capped off by the 4x800m Relay squad that ran a time of 9:50.93. Other notable performances were put out by one of SJU's freshmen including Nohjay Nimpson and her second place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 35' 7¼'' (10.85m). Jessica Di Cicco ran a strong 5,000m race finishing with a time of 19:14.19 in third place. A total of four events had SJU athletes finishing in third place including Di Cicco's 5,000m. The 4x400m Relay (4:13.04), Juli Stensland (Mile/5:25.45), Morgan Matecki (400m/1:03.10), and Katie Pencek (800m/2:30.40) each earned bronzes in the respective races.
