Smythe Wins 60 Meter at Penn State Relays

STATE COLLEGE - Junior Andria Smythe sprinted past the field to win the 60 Meter Dash and SJU received quality efforts from its five relay entries as the Hawk women's track team competed at the Penn State Relays.

Smythe narrowly missed breaking her own school mark in the 60m as she finished first out of 18 runners with a time of 7.63. Smythe also placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 17-11.75.

The Hawks best relay finish was third in teh 4x800. That team, which included seniors Mary Crossin and Kelly Victory, junior Thuy Nguyen and sophomore Erin Kelly, placed third overall with a time of 9:20.88.

In the short relays SJU placed fifth in both the 4x200 and 1600m Sprint Medley Relay. The 4x400 placed sixth (3:57.98) and the Distance Medley Relay was seventh (12:36.35).

Other individual competitors for SJU included Suzie McHenry (10:18.93) and Erin O'Donnell (10:59.15), who placed sixth and 20th rescpetively in the 3000m. Sophomore Valerie Ramirez (9.75) placed 15th in the 60m Hurdles. Freshman Jordan Teuber joined Smythe in teh long jump and finished 14th with a leap of 15-11.75.
