Florida Captures Mile to Lead Hawks at Penn State Relays

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.--The SJU Women's Track team opened its 2008 indoor track campaign at the Penn State Relays Saturday. Junior standout Andrea Florida won the mile by nine seconds, while freshman Kristin Andrews fared well in the 500 running to a fifth place finish. Florida finished the mile in 5:11.09, besting second place finisher Jamelle Young of Penn State who ran a time of 5:20.88. Junior Juli Stensland finished fifth in the race in a time of 5:28.47. Andrews completed the 500m run in a time of 1:18.32, good for fifth place. Another top finish was Nicole McMullen's sixth place showing in the long jump, leaping to a distance of 18' 1¾''. The Hawks are in action next week at the Ursinus Invitational in Collegeville, Pa. on Friday.
