Nov. 18, 2008
PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's first-year tennis coach Ian Crookenden announced today that Casey Robinson (Wayne, Pa./Harriton) has signed a National Letter of Intent during the early signing period to play for the Hawks beginning in the 2009-10 season.
Rated as the top prospect in Pennsylvania and 142nd in the nation according to TennisRecruiting.net, Robinson helped Harriton Senior High School to its fifth-straight PIAA State Class AA title this fall, and placed second individually in the PIAA AA Girls' Singles Tennis Championship. Compiling a 60-47 singles record in both high school and tournament play, Robinson currently ranks 137th in the United States Tennis Association's national standings.
"I am delighted to have Casey select Saint Joseph's. She is the first recruit on board who will help us move our women's tennis program to the next level in the region and into the upper half of the Atlantic 10 Conference," said Crookenden.
Saint Joseph's recently added the 38-acre James J. Maguire `58 Campus, longtime home of the Episcopal Academy, which provides the Hawks with 14.5 acres of sports fields and additional tennis courts.
