Towson Downs SJU as Women's Tennis Opens Fall Season

Senior Michelle Savage registered the lone singles victory for the Hawks, who also collected the doubles point. Savage, who moved from #4 to #2 singles this season, posted a straight sets victory (6-3, 6-3) over Kelly Parsons to provide the Crimson and Gray their only singles win. Towson swept the remaining singles matches. Pamela Zeger downed junior Nicole Morrison (6-0, 6-3) at number one, Jessica Woolfolk topped junior Jess Swanderski (6-1, 6-1) at number three, Morgan Sugar-Butter defeated sophomore Erika Guers (6-2, 6-3) at number four and Audrey Damrongsri bested sophomore Alisa Van Meter (6-4, 6-0) at five. SJU freshman Gina Digiacomo and TU's Ashley Pietryka were tied at one set apiece (3-6, 6-3) when their match was called due to darkness. In doubles action, the Hawks earned wins at numbers two and three to claim the doubles point. Savage and Guers teamed at number two to defeat Damrongsri and Woolfolk (8-4). DiGiacomo then paired with sophomore Marisa Donelson to defeat Parsons and sophomore Alecia White (8-6). Morrison and Swanderski fell to Zeger and Damrongsri at number one (8-5).
