Women's Netters Blanked by Delaware, 7-0

NEWARK, DE - Saint Joseph's (1-5) could muster only a single victory by freshman Gina Digiacomo and sophomore Marisa Donelson at number three doubles while dropping a 7-0 decision to Delaware (5-0) at the Delaware Field House Courts.

DiGiacomo and Donelson teamed for an 8-4 win over Marissa Singer and Liz Perlow at third doubles. The Hens' Susan Pollack and Sori Shuster however teamed for an 8-2 win over Nicole Morrison and Jess Swanderski at the No. 1 doubles spot and Katie Miller teamed with Brittany Barsky for an 8-1 win over Michelle Savage and Erika Guers at the No. 2 spot.

In singles, SJU's best chance for a win came from sophomore Alisa Van Meter at number six singles. Van Meter pushed her match against Stefanie Riddle to three sets, but dropped a 6-2, 6-7, 7-5 decision. DiGiacomo also battled at number five, but fell to Katie Miller 7-6, 6-3.

In other matches, UD's Pollack downed Morrison 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, Shuster bested Savage 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 2 spot, Perlow defeated Swanderski 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 and Jamie deGraffenreid topped Guers 6-3, 6-2 at No. 4.
