Women's Netters Snap Skid With 7-0 Win Over La Salle

PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's women's tennis team (2-5) snapped a four match losing streak on Friday with a 7-0 vicotry over La Salle. Senior Michelle Savage, Junior Jess Swanderski and freshman Gina Digiacomo each had to battle three sets to secure wins.

Taking on a shorthanded La Salle squad that was forced to forfeit both the #6 and #3 doubles postions, SJU swept the remaing contests to score the shutout victory.

Junior Nicole Morrison posted a 6-3, 6-4 win at number one singles; senior Michelle Savage won 6-2, 5-7, 7-5 at number two; Jess Swanderski was a victor at number three, 2-6, 6-4, 7-6; sophomore Erika Guers registered a 6-1, 6-4 win at number four and DiGiacomo won 5-7, 6-3, 6-2 at number five. Sophomore Alisa Van Meter picked up a win by forfiet at number six.

In doubles Savage and Guers teamed to win at number one (9-8) and DiGiacomo and sophomore Marisa Donelson delivered an 8-5 win at number two.
