Bucknell Bests Women's Tennis, 7-0

Oct. 12, 2004

LEWISBURG, PA - A single victory in doubles competition was all the Saint Joseph's women's tennis team could muster as it dropped a 7-0 decision to Bucknell. The tandem of sophomore Maris Donelson and freshman Gina Digiacomo claimed the win at third doubles.

Diiacomo and Donelson picked up a hard-fought 8-6 victory, but juniors Nicole Morrison and Jess Swanderski lost 8-1 at number one doubles and senior Michele Savage and sophomore Alisa Van Meter were edged at second to give the Bison the doubles point.

In singles, SJU could not muster much offense, falling in straight sets. Morrison put up a fight at number one, but dropped a 7-5, 6-1 decision. Savage fell 6-0, 6-2 at number two, Swanderski was bested 6-0, 6-1 at third, sophomore Erika Guers lost 6-1, 6-2 at four, DiGiacomo was swept 6-0, 6-0 at five and Van Meter dropped a 6-3, 6-0 decision at six.

SJU wraps up the fall season at Temple.
