Women's Tennis Has Best Showing Since 2001 At A-10s

COLLEGE PARK, MD (4/17/04) -- For the second straight contest, the third through sixth singles spot were clutch in defeating La Salle, 4-2, in the ninth place match at the Atlantic 10 Championships. Ninth place is the best Hawk showing since 2001 and SJU finishes its season with a 5-8 record.

Sophomore Nicole Morrison was a straight-set winner at #3 singles (6-2, 6-2) and junior Michelle Savage followed with a 6-0, 6-3 win at #4. Sophomore Jess Swanderski needed three sets to earn a victory at #5 singles, 6-3, 2-6, 7-5. Freshman Erika Guers dropped just one game in a 6-0, 6-1 win at #6.

The doubles matches were not contested.
