LAFAYETTE DOWNS SAINT JOSEPH'S, 6-1, IN WOMEN'S TENNIS OPENER
PHILADELPHIA (09/09/03) – Saint Joseph's managed only a fifth singles win by sophomore Jess Swanderski in a season opening loss to Lafayette, 6-1. Swanderski was a 6-1, 6-3 victor over Lafayette's Susan King to earn SJU's only point.
The Leopards (1-0) won all the singles matches in straight sets, including a 7-5, 6-0 first singles win by all-Patriot League player Chez Saricas over St. Joe's (0-1) senior Pilar Glodzik. In first doubles action Glodzik and Nicole Morrison fell in a closely contested match with Saricas and Lisa Fung-Ku-Fung, 8-6.
The Crimson and Gray return to the courts on Friday when it hosts Fordham at 3:00 p.m.
