SJU PLACES 11TH AT A-10S AFTER LATE NIGHT OF TENNIS
COLLEGE PARK, MD (04/19/03) -- The Saint Joseph's women's tennis team wrapped up 11th place at the Atlantic 10 Championships early Saturday morning with a 4-1 win over La Salle. Play ended for that match at 4:45 a.m.
SJU won the third through sixth singles matches to finish its season 8-8. Senior Jill Simodejka was a 7-6, 1-6, 7-5 winner at #3, while junior Katie Bobish (6-1, 6-1), freshman Nicole Morrison (6-3, 6-3) and freshman Jess Swanderski (6-0, 6-1) were victors at the four through sixth spots. The doubles matches were not played.
The Hawks started their day at 8 a.m. with a 4-2 loss to St. Bonaventure. Morrison and Swanderski were the only SJU winners in the loss. Again, doubles was not contested.
Massachusetts and Temple play for the Atlantic 10 Championship on Saturday.
