WOMEN'S TENNIS WRAPS UP FALL SEASON WITH 6-1 WIN OVER DREXEL

PHILADELPHIA, PA (10/20/02) -- The Saint Joseph's women's tennis team concluded their fall season in convincing fashion with a 6-1 home victory over Drexel. With the win, the Hawks finish over .500 with a 6-5 record. SJU dominated the doubles matchups, as senior Lydia Thomas and Katie Bobish combined for a 8-5 win, while junior Pilar Glodzik and freshman Nicole Morrison paired for a 8-2 whitewash. At #3 freshman Jess Swanderski and senior Kathy Fromuth earned an 8-1 win to complete the sweep. In singles action, Thomas earned a hard-fought three-set victory, coming from behind after losing the first set 6-3. The tri-captain returned to win the next two sets, 6-3, 6-0. Other singles winners included senior Jill Simodejka (6-2, 6-3) at #3 and Bobish (6-0, 6-2) at #4. Bobish won her sixth straight match on the season. Morrison and Swanderski continued to play well in the #5 and #6 spots, as they took 6-0, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-0 victories, respectievly. Singles 1. Lydia Thomas (SJU) def.
