HAWKS CLOSE RHODE ISLAND TOUR WITH 8-1 WIN AT BRYANT

SMITHFIELD, RI (10/05/02) - Saint Joseph's concluded their weekend tour of Rhode Island and snapped a three-match losing streak with a 8-1 lopsided victory at Bryant College. SJU (5-4) started things by sweeping the doubles matches, dropping only four games in the process. Senior Lydia Thomas and junior Katie Bobish were 8-2 winners at #1, while junior Pilar Glodzik and freshman Nicole Morrison won 8-1 at #2. Freshman Jess Swanderski and senior Kathy Fromuth won by an identical 8-1 score at #3 doubles. As they had the day before, the #4 through #6 spots came up perfect for Saint Joseph's. Bobish (#4) and Morrison (#5) dropped only one game apiece in 6-1, 6-0 victories and Swanderski whitewashed Lauren Kogut, 6-0, 6-0. Glodzik was a victor at second singles, 6-3, 6-1, and senior Jill Simodejka was a 6-2, 6-2 winner at third singles.
