HAWKS DOWN TOWSON, 5-2, FOR FIRST TIME SINCE 1994

PHILADELPHIA (09/24/02) - Saint Joseph's posted its fourth straight win with a 5-2 win over visiting Towson. It marked the first time since September 25, 1994 that SJU had defeated the Tigers. The four-match winning streak is the longest since a six-match streak in the fall of 2000. The program record is seven, set in 1978. Junior Katie Bobish won her fourth straight at #4 singles with a 6-4, 6-2 victory. Senior tri-captain Lydia Thomas didn't drop a set in a 6-2, 6-0 win at #2, while freshmen Nicole Morrison (6-4, 6-2) and Jess Swanderski (6-4, 6-0) were victors at #5 and #6 singles, respectively. SJU swept thet doubles action, highlighted by a 8-1 #3 doubles whitewash by Swanderski and senior Kathy Fromuth. The duo remained unbeaten on the season. Thomas and Bobish combined for a 8-7 win at #1 and junior Pilar Glodzik and Morrison teamed up for a 8-4 win at #2 doubles.
