SJU MOVES OVER .500 MARK WITH 5-2 WIN AT LA SALLE

PHILADELPHIA, PA (09/19/02) - The Saint Joseph's University women's tennis (2-1) team is off to their best start since 1994 with Thursaday's 5-2 win at La Salle. The Hawks won the doubles point, then went on to win four singles matches for the win. Senior Lydia Thomas remained unbeaten in 2002 by capturing a straight-set (6-0, 6-0) victory at second singles and junior Katie Bobish was a victor at #4, 6-4, 6-1. Sophomore Michelle Savage added a 6-0, 6-4 win at fifth singles, while freshman Nicole Morrison took home a 6-2, 6-3 victory at sixth singles. In doubles, Morrison and junior Pilar Glodzik were victors at second doubles, 8-1, while senior Kathy Fromuth and freshman Jess Swanderski had a hard-fought 9-7 win at third doubles.
