HAWKS EARN FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON BY STOMPING BRONCS, 7-0
PHILADELPHIA, PA (09/17/02) - The Saint Joseph's women's tennis team evened their record at 1-1 with a decisive 7-0 win over visiting Rider (0-1) on Tuesday.
Senior Lydia Thomas improved to 2-0 at first singles with a dominating 6-0, 6-0 win. Junior Pilar Glodzik won 6-3, 6-1 at #2, while senior Jill Simodejka won 6-3, 6-3 at third singles. Junior Katie Bobish added a 6-0, 6-1 win at fourth singles and sophomore Michelle Savage won 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 at fifth singles.
Freshman Nicole Morrison tallied her first collegiate victory with a 6-2, 6-2 win at #6 singles.
In doubles action, the first doubles team of Thomas and Bobish won 8-5, while Glodzik and Morrison won 8-4 at second doubles. Senior Kathy Fromuth and freshman Jessica Swanderski won their first collegiate match, 8-1.
