LAFAYETTE ACES HAWKS IN SEASON OPENER, 6-1
EASTON, PA (09/10/02) - Senior Lydia Thomas was the only Hawk to win a match as Saint Joseph's fell to Lafayette, 6-1, in the season opener for both teams on Tuesday. Thomas won at first singles over Shannon Rowe, 7-5, 6-3.
At fourth singles, Katie Bobish suffered a tough 2-6, 6-3 (8) loss and freshman Nicole Morrison lost 7-6 (6), 2-6 at #6 singles.
The Hawks were swept in doubles, winning just one game in the three matches. SJU returns to the courts Tuesday against Rider in their home opener at 3 pm.
