Hawks Fall to Delaware 7-0

PHILADELPHIA, PA(09/29/01) - The Saint Joseph's University women's tennis team fell hard to Delaware during Saturday afternoon's match on Finnesey courts. Junior Jance Hoy fought a tough battle at the #1 singles slot losing a close three-set match, 6-2,7-6,7-5 to Blue Hen opponent, Elly Giese. In other singles action juniors Lydia Thomas and Jill Simodejka, sophomores Pilar Glodzik and Katie Bobish and freshman Michelle Savage all dropped matches to Delaware. The Hawks shinning moment came in doubles when the #2 team of Thomas and Bobish downed Martine Steet and Danielle Wall 8-4. SJU is now 1-2 in dual matches. The Hawks return to Finnesey courts Monday, October 1, when they face the Lafayette Leopards in a rescheduled match. Play begins at 3:00.
