HAWKS FINALLY OPEN 2001-02 SEASON AT BUCKNELL INVITATIONAL

LEWISBURG, PA (9/23/01) The women's tennis team finally opened their season this past weekend at the Bucknell Invitational after nearly two weeks of non-competitive play. The Hawks four regularly scheduled matches were postponed due to the attacks on America and inclimate weather. At Bucknell in flight "A" singles, vetern juniors Jance Hoy (Stone Harbor, N.J./Holy Spirit) and Lydia Thomas (Abington, PA/Abington) tried to hold on but lost tough matches to Villanova and Bucknell contenders. In doubles action sophomore Pilar Glodzick (Hazelton, PA/Wyoming Seminary) teamed up with Hoy but lost in the quarter finals to Bucknell 8-2. The Hawks return to action against Towson Tuesday, September 25 for their first dual match of the season.
